” Something old, something new….”

One night, a dear  friend visited my home to see a few  pieces of furniture I had finished   .   When she spotted the dark wood  buffet I have had for years, she asked me  if I would also paint that.  I never thought about painting a piece I adored in it’s original “form”.  I am not sure what my reply to Dorothy was that night, but within 45 minutes of her leaving, I pulled out  the Annie Sloan Old White Chalk paint and  finished painting the buffet/sideboard in less than 2 hours. The following week I tweaked the hardware (from gold to silver to antique gold to black to….old white), and played around with clear and dark wax until I found it’s best look . The new paint transformed this sideboard from average to chic.
